From reading about fictional characters in unknown lands, to vividly imagining a whole new world. Listening to and reading stories was a hobby I developed early on in life.
This hobby turned into a passion when I decided to take English Literature as my undergrad major. Keen to make a quick penny, I took up part-time English teaching roles.
Equipping young minds with a voice, mentoring them to express themselves better, and seeing them have their own set of lightbulb moments felt highly rewarding and satisfying.
Soon after I graduated, I took on a full-time role in Content Writing in an industry closer to education and learning. My first full-time role was at Leverage Edu, an admissions consulting start-up.
Being in a fast-paced environment where communication and creativity were valued, I sat with my pen and notepad and devoured insight from the Admissions Consultants. Then I translated this insight into tasty content to inspire future applicants.
Watching consultants brainstorm with candidates, structuring and writing essays, conducting multiple rounds of interviews and being an emotional anchor during the application process captured my attention. I thought: “This is what I want to!"
So I switched to the role of Admissions Consultant and never looked back!
Having worked as a Consultant for almost two years now, I get kicks out of helping the candidates express their stories better. And it feels satisfying to be a part of building their careers.
At Sam Weeks Consulting I provide another pair of eyes to applicant essays and build our content to broaden the reach of our brand.
