Admit: Wharton with $850k in total scholarship offers
As an immigrant to the US nearly 10 years out of undergrad from a public research university, with only an average GRE score despite a solid college GPA, I never thought top MBA programs would be accessible to me. When work responsibilities delayed my test prep and I found myself starting applications in September 2024 (missing Round 1 entirely) I knew I needed expert guidance and couldn’t afford multiple application cycles at my age.
After conducting initial consultations with 7 of Poets&Quants’ top-ranked consultants, Sam immediately stood out for his direct, no-nonsense approach and personal handling of my consultation, while other firms routed me through administrative assistants. Unlike traditional admissions consultants who dismissed my average test scores, Sam acknowledged the challenge while focusing strategically on how to showcase my unique story in other application components. His finance/banking background as a former trader resonated with my professional experience and translated into practical, results-oriented strategic thinking that other ex-admission officer consultants couldn’t match.
Sam’s approach was methodical and accountability-driven throughout our partnership. Through initial strategy sessions, he helped identify what made my candidacy unique and helped me craft a cohesive narrative that transformed perceived weaknesses into differentiated strengths. Weekly meetings kept me accountable during demanding working hours, while his guidance on managing getting letters of recommendation from busy banking managing directors turned a stressful process into a strategic advantage.
When interview invitations started arriving, Sam and his team provided comprehensive preparation that helped me confidently tell my story across different formats. Malvika deserves special recognition for her thorough essay review and suggestions that ensured my narrative came through clearly and professionally, as well as Nanako and Jon for their interview prep advice.
The results exceeded my wildest expectations:
I received 11 interview invitations (73% yield),
Secured 9 acceptances (60% final yield) + 2 waitlists,
Generated over $850k in total scholarship offers across various programs.
Most importantly, I was accepted to Wharton, a school which had always been a dream, but one I wasn’t sure I could attain given my non-traditional timeline and profile. Sam’s background as a trader translated perfectly into admissions consulting through extreme pragmatism, quick strategic pivots, and results-oriented execution that delivered beyond what I could have imagined. I cannot recommend Sam Weeks Consulting highly enough for anyone serious about maximizing their MBA admissions potential: the expertise, strategy, and results speak for themselves.
